Births/Christenings in County Limerick

As recorded by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon Church) is internationally acclaimed for its genealogical efforts. The LDS church has developed the International Genealogical Index (IGI) which currently is a world-wide index of about 187 million names of deceased persons. It lists birth, christening, marriage and Latter-day Saint temple information. It is not confined to members of the LDS church, nor does it include living persons. Most of the names in the index come from vital records from the early 1500s to 1875.

This information is available on microfiche at the LDS Family History Centers, which are located around the world and usually can be found by calling the local LDS (Mormon) church.

(Ed Murnane Notation: While the LDS researchers have extensive materials on Ireland, their research is VERY sketchy and limited. They have not recorded any information that is not available to any other researcher. LDS missionaries who conducted the research and recorded the information spent a limited amount of time gathering information and they were successful only when they had the cooperation (in Ireland) of parish priests or other record keepers. Thus family researchers should not be discouraged if they do NOT find information about their family.

(A review of the following information, which is the birth and christening records for Murnanes in County Limerick in the IGI files, shows that only a few areas were researched, and only a few families are included.

(If you have questions about the LDS research, or wish to learn where you can see it for yourself, send us an e-mail.)

The following entries are recorded from the IGI for County Limerick, Ireland. Spellings and variations and/or mispellings are as they appear in the IGI. (C) after the child's name indicates the event is a christening, rather than a birth. All others are births.
